Novel for jamb 2017 (Summary)

Thanks to www.myschool.com.ng It is no longer news that 2017 UTME candidates novel  will be tested on the book "In Dependence" by Sarah Ladipo Manyika. Irrespective of your course of study or method of testing, you will be tested on this book. The book is to be given to candidates after paying for the 2017 UTME registration. However, for most candidates who would prefer a soft copy of the book. Here is a summary of the book based on a review by IDOKO OJABO. ; SUMMARY OF THE BOOK "IN DEPENDENCE" Tayo Ajayi, a Nigerian, and Vanessa Richardson, an English lady, had their affair boiling when it began, however as circumstances have been meant to intervene, the connection went sore and it appeared nothing may ever carry them collectively. The book (In dependence) has characters that behaved in like-patterns, like within the case of Tayo’s pal, Yusuf, who had dated tons of white English women. He (Yusuf) ended up marrying a Nigerian Lady as predicted (Yusuf knew

Say NO to CHILD ABUSE!!

Image
Child abuse as a social problem has only very recently gained the recognition and attention of the Nigerian public. This was as a result of an organization known as the African Network for the Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse and Neglect (AN PPC AN) which was set up in 1984 by some African countries including Nigeria. Their aim was to look into the area of child abuse and neglect as it pertains to Africa. Since then, Nigeria has formed its own chapter of the network (inaugurated in 1986) and this body has held a couple of conferences in an effort to define and identify aspects of child abuse within the society. Against this background, this paper examines the nature, causes and aspects of child abuse and neglect in Nigeria, the existing legislation which is supposed to prevent and control them seems to be lacking in that area... Was it my fault? This is one of the most common questions we see posed at Pandora’s Aquarium  and in other survivor communities. It should

True love Exist

Image
Not Your Average Celebrity Love Story When Great Gatsby actress Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons wed in 2012, you might've just skipped over it after assuming it was just another celeb love that won't last. But what you didn't know is that Carey and Marcus were once childhood pen pals! The couple was writing to each other way before the days of social media, but they lost Luckily — and with a little help from their star power — the pair reunited as adults and eventually married a few weeks after they finished shooting Inside Llewyn Davis, a movie by the Coen brothers they were both involved in. Carey's even stated that they've resurrected some old habits and began writing to each other again, though this time the letter

Military: A beautiful true love story

One day, a young guy and a young girl fell in love. But the guy came from a poor family. The girl’s parents weren’t too happy. So the young man decided not only to court the girl but to court her parents as well. In time, the parents saw that he was a good man and was worthy of their daughter’s hand. But there was another problem: The man was a soldier. Soon, war broke out and he was being sent overseas for a year. The week before he left, the man knelt on his knee and asked his lady love, “Will you marry me?” She wiped a tear, said yes, and they were engaged. They agreed that when he got back in one year, they would get married. But tragedy struck. A few days after he left, the girl had a major vehicular accident. It was a head-on collision. When she woke up in the hospital, she saw her father and mother crying. Immediately, she knew there was something wrong. She later found out that she suffered brain injury. The part of her brain that controlled her face muscles was

Wrong!!!!

Wrong email address: A couple going on vacation but his wife was on a business trip so he went to the destination first and his wife would meet him the next day. When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick email. Unfortunately, when typing her address, he mistyped a letter and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher’s wife whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her email, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the floor in a dead faint. At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen: Dearest Wife, Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow. P.S. Sure is hot down here.F

THE GOOD LEADER

Image
1. Lead by example. Leaders need to show, not just tell. If you want your employees to be punctual, make sure you’re there on time -- or even early. If professionalism is a priority, make sure you’re dressed for success, and treat everyone you interact with (both in-person and online) with courtesy. Set the tone and your employees will follow it. Read more:  5 Ways to Lead by Example at Work 2. A little humility goes a long way. There’s a difference between a leader and a boss. While both are in charge, a leader shares the spotlight and is comfortable crediting others. While it might seem counterintuitive, being humble takes more confidence than basking in glory. Your employees will appreciate it, and your clients will, too. Read more:  Turns Out, Humility Offers a Competitive Advantage 3. Communicate effectively. Effective communication is imperative, both in the office and in life. Great leaders make sure they are heard and understood, but they also know the importanc

THE PLACE OF EDUCATION

Image
Just know, when you truly want success, you ’ ll never give up on it. No matter how bad the situation may get.” – Unknown   Education, if looked at beyond its conventional boundaries, forms the very essence of all our actions. What we do is what we know and have learned, either through instructions or through observation and assimilation. When we are not making an effort to learn, our mind is always processing new information or trying to analyze the similarities as well as the tiny nuances within the context which makes the topic stand out or seem different. If that is the case then the mind definitely holds the potential to learn more, however, it is us who stop ourselves from expanding the horizons of our knowledge with self-doubt or other social, emotional, or economic constraints. While most feel that education is a necessity, they tend to use it as a tool for reaching a specific target or personal mark, after which there is no further need to seek greater education. N

Unemplyment must STOP!!

Unemployment in Nigeria Unemployment is a hot issue in Nigeria, and many people are frustrated with widespread joblessness. Unemployment in Nigeria is like a disease that the cure is not yet discovered. According to official statistics, 24% of Nigerians are unemployed. These numbers are worse for young people. Official Nigerian statistics say 38% of those under 24 are unemployed, but the World Bank estimates this number to be closer to 80%. In March 2014, 16 people were killed in stampedes when 500,000 desperate job-seekers rushed to apply for under 5,000 vacancies at the Nigeria Immigration Service. Students at tertiary educational institutions often graduate into joblessness and low morale. There is a great challenge in Nigeria education. Many Nigerian graduates did not learn good skills during their studies. They were busy reading only textbooks without knowing the applications of what they read. They apply for jobs for which they aren't hired because they lack skill

Nigerianscryout::::Help!! We want to go to Higher Institutions Too

Do our youths still have future in Nigeria? It is very pathetic and frustrating to see our supposed future leaders’ tight-bound in a generation that seems to have no future. How did we get to this point? What has gone wrong with our educational system? Why will more than 60 percent of Nigerian students that sat for JAMB exam wallow in pains and agony for losing out in the university admission system marked by corruption and impunity? Let try and break it down now. We all know that the JAMB exam 2012 which was recently released, registered about 1.5 million candidates for the examination. According to JAMB result performance statistics around 400, 000 candidates score less than 180 which is around 26 percent. We will assume that this number failed but it is not always the case in Nigeria. If we take away the number of results that were seized and withheld, we will be left with around 1 million students who will subsequently apply for JAMB Post UME exam in different universiti
